Why 100 KB?

A 100 KB limit is often a practical compromise between a recognizable photograph and a file that fits a restricted upload field. You may encounter a small attachment allowance in an account profile, an internal application or a document submission form. Always read the particular form: a limit on bytes does not tell you its required dimensions, accepted format or photograph composition. An image compressor to 100 KB helps you meet that byte allowance while checking whether the picture also needs fewer pixels.

Start with the original photograph when you have it. Sending an image through several messaging apps before resizing can introduce artifacts that compression cannot remove. For a simple portrait, a clean background and a sensible crop usually spend the available bytes more usefully than a large scene with fine foliage. What happens to quality

The compressor checks the actual encoded file after each attempt. It searches for a high quality setting that remains within your budget, rather than asking you to guess a percentage. If the image is still too large at a low setting, it reduces both dimensions together so the proportions remain intact. Your minimum dimensions act as a stop, not a suggestion.

For illustration, a 3.2 MB photograph measuring 4000 × 3000 pixels might become a 1280 × 960 image just under 100 KB. That is an example, not a promised output: texture, transparency and the browser encoder all affect the result. Look at faces and lettering at the size where the image will actually be used.

Choose JPEG for a photograph that must work in a broad range of upload forms. White replaces transparent areas when you explicitly select JPEG. WebP is useful for images on websites that accept it, while PNG retains lossless pixel encoding but may need smaller dimensions to fit a tight file allowance. The result row names the format so you can check it before submitting.

Working with several pictures is easier when every result stays beside its original measurements. Add up to 100 files and let the queue process them one at a time. You can cancel processing without losing the downloads that have already finished. If two source files have the same name, the ZIP gives their outputs distinct names instead of replacing one with the other.

Can I compress a whole batch?

Where do my files go?

The file bytes stay in your browser. Processing does not send images to a server, and downloads are created on your device. Closing the tab clears the working queue. Save the results first; the website is a compressor, not a backup service.

Why is the result 98 KB instead of exactly 100 KB?

The target is an upper limit. Image encoders do not produce every possible byte count, so the closest suitable attempt may be smaller. We do not add filler bytes to make the label read exactly 100 KB. The result is measured from the actual output file.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in supported mobile browsers. Choose a photo from your library or use the camera button where available. Very large images take more memory, so smaller batches are more comfortable on a phone. Save each result before closing the browser tab.

Is this an image compressor to 100 KB or a resizer?

It does both. For JPEG and WebP, the tool first tests encoding quality at the current dimensions. If the file still exceeds 100 KB, it scales width and height together and tries again. The adaptive shrink factor is at most 0.85 per round: each side becomes 85% of its previous length, or less when a larger reduction is needed, subject to minimum dimensions and pixel rounding. Exact-dimension settings keep their fixed size. PNG uses lossless encoding, so reducing its dimensions is the available fallback.
